Wildcats drop heartbreaker 58-57 to Montana

OGDEN - Weber State rallied from a 17-point halftime deficit but couldn't hang on and lost a heartbreaker 58-57 to Montana Saturday afternoon at the Dee Events Center.  
 
The game was tied 15-15 after the first quarter before a huge Montana second quarter. The Lady Griz outscored the WIldcats 22-7 in the second quarter and took a 17-point lead at 39-22 at halftime. 
 
But in the third quarter, Weber State responded. The 'Cats outscored Montana 23-10 in the third quarter and cut the lead to four points at 49-45. The Wildcats scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter to take a 52-49 lead with eight minutes to play. 
 
It was back-and-forth the rest of the way. The Wildcats led 56-54 with 3:07 to play after a Dominique Williams 3-pointer. Montana then scored, then Kori Pentzer made one free throw before the Lady Griz scored the winning bucket with 1:48 to play. 
 
Montana shot 32 percent from the field, compared to 31 percent for the Wildcats. WSU also knocked down seven 3-pointers  
 
The Wildcats had four players in double figures scoring. Kori Pentzer and Aloma Solovi each had 11 points. Jadyn Matthews had a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds, along with three blocked shots, and Dominique Williams added 10 points with three 3-pointers. 
 
Weber State hits the road for two more games next week, playing at Northern Arizona on Thursday and Saturday in Flagstaff.
