Men's Tennis Defeated By Utah State

LOGAN, UT - Weber State men's tennis suffered a loss this afternoon, falling to Utah State 5-2.Â
The match started with a win from Utah State for the doubles point. In the No. 3 spot, Kris Van Wyk and Brendan Barr fell short 6-3 against the Aggies' Jack Ninteman and Roko Savin. Finishing second, WSU duo Sebastian Buxman and Arthur Serafim fought hard in the No. 1 spot but were unable to come away with the victory falling 6-3, giving USU the 1-0 advantage. Michiel Van Schoor and Bo-Han Li went unfinished in the No. 2 spot against Sergiu Bucur and Souf Mesbahi.Â
Playing at No. 1 singles, Kris Van Wyk was the first Wildcat to earn the point over Sergiu Bucur 6-1, 6-3. The Cats' picked up their second and final point of the day from Sebastian Buxman with a victory of 7-5, 6-3 in the No. 3 spot. Things were tight and competitive all through singles play. Bo-Han Li battled against Souf El Mesbahi in the No. 4 spot but was unable to come out with the victory 6-3, 7-6. The Aggies' Felipe Acosta earned a win in the No. 2 spot as Arthur Serafim retired with an injury.Â
"We started slow in the doubles which dug us in too much of a hole, but a great performance today from Kris and Sebastian," said head coach Brad Ferreira.Â
The Wildcats will continue their 2021 season Saturday, February 20th at 5:00 p.m. against BYU.Â
