In the No. 2 spot, Michiel Van Schoor, and Bo-Han Li dropped a close one to their respective opponents, 6-4 to see UC Irvine take the 1-0 lead. Sebastian Buxman and Arthur Serafim fought hard in the No. 1 spot but were unable to secure the point falling 7-6.
Sebastian Buxman gave the Cats their first point of the day, coming victorious against Mark Peneff 6-4, 2-6, 6-3. In the No. 5 spot Michiel Van Schoor earned the Wildcats their second and final point when he defeated Mike Mkrtchian 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
"I was impressed with Michiel and Sebastian," said head coach Brad Ferreira. "Coming down to sea level is not easy but they played tough. Both were cramping late in the third but hung in there for great wins."
