Wildcats Fall Against UNLV In A Close Match

Las Vegas, NV - Weber State women's tennis suffered a loss this morning, falling to UNLV 4-3.

The match started with a win from UNLV for the doubles point. In the No. 1 spot, Ana Morett Salas and Yuuna Ukita fell short 6-2 against the Rebels' Izumi Asano and En-Pei Huang. In the No. 3 spot finishing second, Meagan Lombardi and Sicely Ferreira were unable to come away with the victory falling 6-3, giving UNLV the 1-0 advantage. Megan Davies and Pei-Hsuan Kuo went unfinished in the No. 2 spot against Zita Kovacs and Olivia Elliott.

Playing at No. 6 singles, Sicely Ferreira was the first Wildcat to earn the point over Aura Fang 6-3, 6-1. The Cats' picked up their second point of the day from Yuuna Ukita with a victory of 5-7, 7-5, 1-0. Megan Davies picked up the third and final point for the Wildcats in the No. 5 spot when she defeated Sam Smith 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. The Rebels were able to pick up three points in singles play, making the overall score 4-3.

"We lost a tough match today. UNLV is a solid team and we fought hard, but came up short. I continue to see improvements and know that these tough losses will help us in future matches," said head coach RuthAnn Allen.
