Wildcats Secure 6-1 Win Over UTEP

Las Vegas, NV - The Weber State women's tennis team defeated UTEP this Friday morning, at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. The Cats' secured the doubles point and then continued to showcase stellar performances in singles play.Â
The Wildcats dominated doubles play, Megan Lombardi and Sicely Ferreira earned the first point in the No. 2 spot 6-2. Yuuna Ukita and Ana Morett Salas secured the point in the No. 1 spot defeating Vanessa Valdez and Eve Daniels 6-4.
During singles play, the Cats' got off to a quick start and secured their second point in the No. 6 spot where Sicely Ferreira defeated Eve Daniels 6-3, 6-1. Following her teammate's lead, Megan Davies completed her match and posted a 6-2, 6-2 win. In the No. 1 spot, Yuuna Ukita earned the victory 6-2, 6-4 against Thassane Abrahim. Ana Morett Salas and Pei-Husan Kuo earned points for the Wildcats in the No. 3 and No. 4 spots, making the overall score 6-1.Â
"We fought hard and competed well," said head coach RuthAnn Allen. "UTEP was tough and we had to work hard for this win. I'm proud of the team's commitment to do what it takes."
The Wildcats will continue their 2021 season on March 5th against Wyoming.Â
