Weber State Women's Tennis Starts Weekend In Loss To Wyoming

Laramie, WY - Weber State women's tennis opened its two-match weekend Friday, falling to Wyoming, 7-0.
The Wildcats' played hard in a 7-0 loss this afternoon at the Laramie Tennis Complex. Wyoming claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Weber State duo Ana Gonzalez and Megan Lombardi fought hard in the No. 3 spot but were unable to defeat Mihaela Kaftanova and Lucia Malinak falling 6-4.Â
In singles play, Yuuna Ukita fought hard against Maria Oreshkina but was unable to come away with the victory falling 7-5, 6-3. Ana Gonzalez put up a fight in the No. 6 spot against Ida Krause but suffered a loss 7-5, 6-1.Â
"It was a tough day playing against Wyoming who came out very aggressive," said head coach RuthAnn Allen. "We had a difficult time making adjustments and they increased the pressure as the match went on. We hopefully will learn from today, because we get another opportunity tomorrow."Â
The Wildcats and Wyoming are back in action tomorrow as the two teams will meet again Saturday at 10 a.m.Â
