GREELY, CO - The Weber State women's volleyball team fought back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Northern Colorado 3-2. The Wildcats now improve to 8-0.
"What an amazing game," said head coach, Jeremiah Larsen. "UNC played so well, and I felt we responded to our challenges. We didn't play a smooth game and a lot of that was because of what they did."
The Wildcats struggled to get ahead of the Bears in the first set, and made more errors than in February 20th's match. Though more errors were made, Weber State still gave Northern Colorado a good battle. The score stayed close most of the set, until the Bears went on a run to win the first set 18-25.
Weber State unfortunately continued to struggle with keeping the ball in bounds in the second set, and the Bears capitalized on it. Though the Wildcats fought hard, the Bears were able to take the second set 13-25.
The Wildcats started set three with a renewed sense of energy, and took the lead early. The women gained momentum as the set went on, and Weber State took the set 25-18.
Weber State held the lead for most of the fourth set, and kept their high energy and momentum going. The Wildcats played well, and won the set 25-18, forcing the match to a fifth set.
The Wildcats played well in the fifth set, and were able to control play against the Bears. In a short and exciting fifth set, Weber State fought hard and won 15-12.
Weber State's next match will be on February 26th against Sacramento State in Ogden, Utah.
