'Cats earn a big win against Sacramento State

OGDEN, UT - The Wildcats edged the Hornets out 3-2 in a long and difficult battle in the Swenson Gym on Friday, February 26th. Weber State is now 9-0 on the season.
In the first set the Wildcats and Hornets stayed neck and neck for the whole set. In the first half of the set, Weber State played well and had some strong kills. Though the 'Cats struggled with a few service errors, they were able to edge out the competition 27-25 to take set one.
The second set proved to be another battle between the Wildcats and Hornets. The teams fought hard for each point and the score stayed even until the end of the set. Sac State was able to defend Weber State's attacks and took the second set 25-27.
The Wildcats struggled to thwart the Hornets' attack in set three, and had a hard time with service errors. Though they never gave up, Weber State fell in the third set 18-25.
Weber State stepped up the energy in the fourth set, and gave the Hornets a great battle. The Wildcat defense worked extremely hard to earn digs and get the ball over the net. The set was another close battle between the two teams, but the Wildcats earned the set point 25-23 to send the match into a fifth set.
Weber State went up early in the fifth set, taking a 5-0 lead against Sac State. The Wildcats gained momentum and energy as the set went on, and worked hard to put the Hornets on their heels. Weber State pushed hard and earned the set and match victory 15-12.
The Wildcats will rematch the Hornets on Saturday, February 27th at 4:00 pm in Ogden, Utah.
