During doubles play, the Wildcats could not secure the point and gave the Cougars the early advantage. On court one, Yuuna Ukita and Ana Morett Salas fell to Anastasia Abramyan and Helen Jiao 6-1. On court three, Megan Lombardi and Sicely Ferreira were defeated by Kara Lin and Qianxin Kong 6-2 and BYU secured the doulbes point. In the No. 2 spot, Pei-Hsuan Kuo and Megan Davies went 4-2, unfinished against Leah Heimuli and Emilee Astle.Â
After doubles, the Cats' were unable to catch up to BYU in singles play. In the No. 3 position, Megan Lombardi defeated Kara Lin 6-4, 7-5 giving the Wildcats their first and only point. Megan Davies had a tough battle against Emilee Astle but fell 3-6, 6-1, 7-5 in the No. 4 spot. "I saw some good things today from my team," Said head coach RuthAnn Allen. "I'm looking for more consistency in their performances, but we are young and improving. I look forward to what we can do the rest of the season."Â
The Weber State women's tennis team will head to Logan Saturday, March 13th to play Utah State. The Wildcats and Aggies will have first serve come at 11 a.m.
