Wildcats sweep Bengals in three set victory

POCATELLO, ID - Rylin Adams led the Wildcat offense with 15 kills in a three set win versus the Idaho State Bengals on Saturday, March 13th. Weber State dominated Idaho State, and earned the victory 3-0.
"I thought we played a crisp game," said head coach, Jeremiah Larsen. "Idaho State didn't quit and gave us fits in set 3. But we calmed down and finished a sweep against a team that gives everyone trouble."
The Wildcats dominated the first set, and came into the match with fierce energy. Weber State put up 18 kills to Idaho State's 8, and had a .469 hitting average. Though ISU put up a good battle, Weber State went on an eight-point scoring streak to finish up the first set 25-15.
Weber State continued to dominate Idaho State in set two. The Wildcats put up 13 kills, coming from Dani Nay, Rylin Adams, Riley Weinert, Emma Mangum, and Sam Schiess. The hitting percentage was .500 in set two, and the Wildcats had just one attacking error. Weber State took set two 25-9.
The Bengals stepped it up in the third set, earning the lead early due to some errors on WSU's side. The Wildcats had some difficulty converting their chances, and the Bengals played well. Weber State didn't lead until the latter half of the set when the score was 17-16. ISU gave WSU an intense battle in the third set, the score inching up on either side one point at a time. The Wildcats edged the Bengals out in the end, and took the third set 26-24.
Overall, the Wildcats had 42 kills and a .414 hitting percentage. Rylin Adams led the Wildcat offense, earning 15 kills and a .464 hitting percentage. Dani Nay put up 11 kills with a .548 average. Rylin Adams, Kate Standifird, and Dani Nay all had aces for Weber State.
Weber State improves to 12-1 on the season, and will play a rematch against the Bengals tomorrow, March 14th at 3:00 pm in Pocatello, Idaho. Fans can watch the game live on Pluto TV 1061.
