Men's track and field performs well at Utah and Utah State meets

The Weber State men's track and field team was split between two meets on April 9th and 10th at the University of Utah and Utah State. "We took advantage of some excellent conditions the past two days at both Utah State for our throwers and the University of Utah Spring Classic," said men's head coach Corbin Talley. "Our athletes are coming together well and fighting hard to improve their season marks and PRs."

University of Utah - Utah Spring Classic

In the men's 100 meter dash, Cade Palmer earned second place with a time of 10.63. Colton Reifschneider came in second place at 10.66, and Alex Wheeler finished third with a time of 10.66.

Colton Reifschneider also competed well in the men's 200 meter dash, finishing in fourth place with a time of 22.03. 

In the men's 400 meter dash, Isaac Tillett finished third with a time of 49.40, and Matt Masias finished fifth with a time of 49.97. 

Bryce Anderson competed in the men's 800 meter run and finished in fifth place with a time of 1:57.18. Zach Wiberg finished 11th with a time of 1:58.88. 

Caleb Whitney did well in the men's 110 meter hurdles, finishing in second place with a time of 14.66. Johnie Talamantes finished in fourth with a time of 15.40, and Jed Smith finished fifth with a time of 15.41. Whitney also competed in the men's 400 meter hurdles, finishing third with a time of 53.76.

Weber State 'A', made up of Isaac Tillett, Cade Palmer, Alex Wheeler, and Muamer Mujic, finished first in the men's 4x100 meter relay with a time of 41.50. 

In the men's 4x400 meter relay, WSU's team made up of Isaac Tillett, Matt Masias, Caleb Whitney, and Cyrus Rindlisbacher finished first with a time of 3:17.42.

Xakai Harry did well in the men's high jump, finishing in a three-way tie for second place with a 1.98m mark. Anthony Garcia finished fifth with a 1.93m mark, and Caleb Whitney finished seventh with a 1.93m mark. Harry also competed well in the men's long jump, finishing in first with a 7.47m mark.

In the men's pole vault, Lachlan Burns earned first place with a 5.10m mark. Jed Smith earned third with a 4.50m mark, Jakob Pearson earned fourth with a 4.20m mark, and Caleb Whitney finished fifth with a 4.20m mark. 

"I'm excited about the new all-time marks from this weekend. Xakai in the long jump with 24'06, Cade in the 100m with 10.63, Lachlan in the pole vault with 16'08.75. We also had a season best from our 4x400 at 3:17 which I thought was impressive," said Talley.


Utah State - Aggie Invitational

In the men's javelin, Cody Canard earned second place with a mark of 208-08. 

"Overall we're moving in the right direction. It was a great week of practice and a strong meet. We're looking forward to heading up to Idaho State with the full squad next week," said Talley.
