Wildcats Defeat Trailblazers 6-1

St. George, UT - The Weber State women's tennis team earned the victory this Friday afternoon against Dixie State 6-1, at the Trailblazer Tennis Courts.Â
"It was good to see the things we had been working on implemented to win today," said head coach RuthAnn Allen.
Weber State started the day off strong by sweeping the three doubles matches to take the 1-0 lead. In the No. 1 position, Yuuna Ukita and Ana Morett Salas defeated Kyra Harames and Sabrina Longson 6-2. In the No. 3 position, Pei-Hsuan Kuo and Megan Lombardi earned the victory 6-3, securing the doubles point for the Cats. Following their teammate's lead in the No. 2 position, Sicely Ferreira and Megan Davies won 6-4.Â
The Wildcats continued their strong play heading into singles. Megan Lombardi quickly secured their second point on court 3 when she swept her opponent 6-1, 6-1. In the No. 2 position, Ana Morett Salas took her match against Alexandra Hildreth 6-1, 6-3.Â
Pei-Hsuan Kuo defeated Emma Templeman 6-2, 6-3, and Sicely Ferreira battled to defeat the Trailblazers Juliana Honczaruk in three sets, 4-6, 6-3, 10-8.Â
To end the day, in the No. 4 position Megan Davies secured the Wildcats final point against Rachel Mellor by taking a three-set win 5-7, 6-4, 10-5.
The Wildcats head to Flagstaff, AZ April 17 to continue their 2021 season against NAU.Â
