Wildcats Drop 4-3 Against Bengals

Ogden, UT - The Weber State men's tennis team dropped a hard-fought match on Saturday afternoon to the Idaho State Bengals.

Weber State was competitive in the doubles round, with Arthur Serafim and Sebastian Buxman defeating Wikus Robbertse and Hiroki Fujita in the No. 2 position, 5-4.

On court three, Kris Van Wyk and Brendan Barr fell to the Bengals Jaime Castillo-Lopez and Gary Rendek, 6-2. On court one Bo-Han Li and Michiel Van Schoor also fell to the Bengals duo Patrik Trhac and Aleksander Petrovic, 6-4 giving Idaho State the 1-0 advantage.

In singles play, Kris Van Wyk, got the Cats back in the match with a win over ISU's Patrik Trhac, 6-3, 6-3. Michiel Van Schoor took the upper hand against his opponent Gary Rendek, 6-3, 6-4.

On court 3, Arthur Serafim bounced back from a close first set loss to win the second but ran out of steam in the decider to lose 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.

Sebastian Buxman capped the match with a win for the Wildcats on court 2, defeating Aleksander Petrovic 6-7, 6-4, 10-7 to make it a 4-3 final in favor of the Bengals.

The Cats are on the road again April 21 against Utah at 2:00 PM.
