Wildcats Wrap Up Big Sky Championships in Fourth Place

BOULDER CITY, Nev. – Weber State shot a 2-under-par 286 in the final round of the 2021 Big Sky Conference Men's Golf Championships on Tuesday, wrapping up the tournament with a fourth place finish at Boulder Creek Golf Club.

Sacramento State led wire-to-wire in the event, shooting a final round 280 to finish with a tournament total of even-par 864. Southern Utah was 19 shots back in second place at 883, while Idaho finished one shot ahead of the Wildcats at 890.

For the tournament, the Wildcats shot 309-296-286 for a total of 27-over-par 891.

 Reese Fisher and Isaac Buerger led the Wildcats over the week, with each finishing in a tie for 10th place with 5-over-par totals of 221.

Buerger (76-75-70=221) carded two birdies on his opening nine holes and added another three on the back side to shoot a 2-under-par 70 in the final round.

Fisher (76-74-71) recorded four birdies of his own on the day to come in with a 1-under-par 71 on the day.

Hayden Banz went without a birdie on his card on Tuesday, but made an eagle on the par-5 16th hole and finished the day at 1-over-par 73. For the tournament, Banz shot 77-75-73 for a 9-over-par 225 and finished alone in 15th place .

Oliver Göthe offset two bogeys in the final round with birdies at No. 5 and No. 14 and shot an even-par 72. Göthe went 80-77-72 for the week, finishing in a tie for 17th place.

Brody Childs rounded out the Wildcat team, finishing in 34th place with a total of 245, which was highlighted by a second-round 72.

Ethan Davidson of Sacramento State made a final day charge, shooting 5-under-par 67 to earn the Big Sky Individual Medalist title. For the tournament, Davidson finished with a 2-under-par 214, which was one shot clear of Southern Utah's Jake Vincent, who finished second at 215.
