Wildcats break records at three different meets

The Wildcats were split between three meets on April 2nd and 3rd, and came away with some fantastic performances all around.Â
University of Oregon - Hayward Premiere
"We had some great, record-breaking performances this weekend," said women's head coach, Paul Pilkington. "We were split across three different meets and the women performed very well."
Summer Allen broke records in the 5000 meter run. The senior finished in eighth place, coming in with a time of 15:59.34. Allen broke the Weber State record by two seconds, replacing Sarah Callister's record. This time also puts Allen in the third place spot on the Big Sky All-Time list.
Lexie Thompson also broke two records in the 10000 meter run. Thompson earned second place with a time of 32:49.62, and broke both the Weber State All-Time record (previously set by Sara Callister), and the Big Sky All-Time record. This time is currently ranked #4 in the NCAA.
Billie Hatch competed well in the 10000 meter run as well. She ran a 33:39.68 to earn 11th place. This time places Hatch in fourth on the Weber State All-Time list, and tenth on the Big Sky All-Time list.
UVU Collegiate Invitational
"I'm very proud of the throwing group at this point early in the season," said throws coach Paul Barrett. "We had a few PRs and all-time marks. The javelin crew did a really good job considering we took a break through the indoor season."Â
In the women's shot put, Kapua Pulotu earned second place with a 46-11.75 mark. Pulotu's mark puts her in eighth place on the Weber State All-Time list. Pulotu also competed in the women's discus and earned fifth place with a 148-05 mark. This mark is eighth on WSU's All-Time list. Sophie Herbert placed eighth in the women's discus, earning a mark of 140-02.
Megan Larkins earned first place in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 180-02.25. Larkins performance earns her the fifth spot on the Weber State All-Time list. Diedre Wilson and Sophie Herbert also did well in the women's hammer throw, earning sixth and seventh, respectively. Wilson threw a 165-06.50, and Herbert threw a 163-01.50.
Lauren Olsen earned third place in the women's javelin, finding a mark of 154-08. Olsen's mark puts her in fourth place on WSU's All-Time list. Liz Fink earned seventh place with a 139-02.75 mark; Marissa Schmidt earned eighth place with a 137-06.50 mark; and Alyssa Hansen earned ninth with a mark of 134-07.75.
"We're just getting into the throws and I'm excited to see how well they're doing. We've done a lot of heavy training lately to try and prepare the team for later in the season. I'm very proud of how they've done, with all of the change we've made," said Barrett. "It's good to see these early PR marks and all-time marks, we hope to have more breakthroughs later in the season."
Grand Canyon University - Antelope Invite
"The team did very well despite temperatures 50 degrees warmer than we had trained at all week," said coach Tiffany Hogan. "Emily Morgan-King was the 1st collegian in the 100m and was just behind multi-time Olympian Allyson Felix. Emily was also the 1st collegiate athlete in the 200m dash."Â
Emily Morgan-King performed well in the women's 100 meter dash, placing in third with a time of 11.72. Brianna Powell earned eighth place with a time of 12.69; Ashlynn Campos finished ninth with a time of 12.70; Amy Teal finished 11th at 12.75; and Monnie Spears-Rogers finished 12th at 12.79.
Cidnee Davies-Bohn competed in the women's 100 meter hurdles and placed sixth with a time of 14.87. Andee Brown finished seventh with a time of 15.25.Â
Morgan-King also ran well in the women's 200 meter dash, finishing second with a time of 24.29. This finish earns her the 10th place spot on the WSU All-Time list.Â
Kate Sorensen earned first place in the women's 400 meter hurdles with a time of 59.33.Â
Cheyenne Leatham raced well in the women's 1500 meters, earning third place with a time of 4:27.15. This run was just .02 seconds off the WSU All-Time list.Â
Bailey Wall did well in the women's 3000 meter steeplechase, earning fourth place with a time of 10:41.61.Â
In the women's 5000m run, Rylie Lusk earned sixth place, coming in at 17:11.47.Â
"Weber State A" made up of Amy Teal, Brianna Powell, Monnie Spears-Rogers, Emily Morgan-King, and Ashlynn Campos earned first place in the 4x100 with a time of 48.08.Â
The women also did well in the 4x400. A team made up of Andee Brown, Ashlynn Campos, Emily Morgan-King, and Kate Sorensen finished first with a time of 3:50.95.
The Wildcats had some great performances in the women's high jump. Paige van Meeteren earned first place in the competition with a mark of 5-08.75. Aimee Chambers earned second place with a 5-05.00 mark.Â
"The women's 400m hurdles had the top 2 finishers with Kate Sorensen and Andee Brown. Paige van Meeteren and Aimee Chambers had a 1-2 sweep of the high jump. The women's relay teams won their events. The distance runners got the opportunity to run under the lights and came away with a lot of personal records. I was very impressed with how the team did this weekend. It is still early in the year. The heat was very extreme for this time of year and we still were able to put up big marks. I am excited to see how much better we get as the season progresses," said Hogan.
