Men's cross country takes second at BYU Autumn Classic

After winning a title in the season opener last week, the Weber State's men's cross country team was right back in action Saturday at the BYU Autumn Classic in Provo.

The Wildcats had four runners into the top 10 and finished second in the meet with a total of 33 points, behind BYU who was first with 24 points. The Cougars are currently ranked third in the nation in the preseason polls.

Christian Allen was once again the top finisher for the Wildcats as he was second overall with a time of
22.32 on the 7.5K course. Allen was the Big Sky Athlete of the Week after last week's performance at the season opening meet.

Dallin Leatham was WSU's second finisher, taking fourth overall at 22:38.5. Taylor Dillon was sixth with a time of 22:59.1 and Jacob Stone was 10th with a time of 23:25.2.

WSU's fifth runner was Bronson Winter who was 11th at 23:27.2 and Logan Anderson finished 13th, posting a time of 23:32.8.

"It was a good fight from the guys today," said WSU head coach Corbin Talley. "BYU has a great team again this year, so to perform well against them shows promise for our upcoming tests at the Notre Dame Invite and Pre Nationals. We had some really strong efforts all around. I was really impressed with Dallin's gutsy move in the middle, Christian's strong finish, and Jacob's tough race coming back from missing last week with an illness. And our young guys are continuing to step up and give us some much needed depth."

The Wildcats will next be in action on September 25 at the Idaho State Invitational in Pocatello.
