USAF Academy, CO - Air force men's tennis hosted nine teams competing at the 2021 ITA Bedford Cup In The Mountains Thursday - Saturday, Sept. 16-18, at the Air Force Outdoor Intercollegiate Tennis Courts.
"The Bedford Cup included players from Air force, Army, Denver, New Mexico State, Montana State, Idaho State, and Utah State. Freshman Tristan Sarap from California forgot that he was supposed to get nervous and won the tournament, beating Robert Baylon from Air Force (seeded 5-8) in the first round. Then AJ Woodman from Army, Javier Ruiz from Utah State, and in the semi-finals the number three seed Mattia Ross from Denver. In the finals, Tristan beat the number one seed James Davis from Denver 6-4, 6-4. Davis is currently the number one ranked player in the region," said head coach Brad Ferreira.
Weber State had a fantastic tournament. Sebastian Buxman did not start well in the first round but proceeded to win the back draw of the tournament. In doubles, Weber had some impressive first-round wins. The duo of Bo-Han Li and Chia Chieh Lin had an impressive run winning their bracket.
The Wildcats head to the Regional Qualifier Tournament hosted by BYU starting September 21.
