'Cats return home and win seventh straight game

Three players score at least 20 points in 90-84 win over Eastern Washington

OGDEN - Weber State had three players score at least 20 points as the Wildcats won their seventh straight game with a 90-84 win over Eastern Washington Monday night at the Dee Events Center. 

Weber State improved to 17-5 overall and remained on top of the Big Sky standings at 10-1.

How it happened 
The Eagles led early on before a 9-2 run gave Weber State the lead for good. The Wildcats closed the first half on a 10-1 run and led 46-35 at halftime. 

Eastern Washington cut the lead to six points a few times in the second half. The Wildcats led 64-58 midway through the second half before an 8-0 Wildcat run extended the lead to 14 points. 

Koby McEwen made eight straight free throws in the final minute to help the Wildcats hang on for the win.

Key numbers
Weber State shot 53 percent from the field, their fifth-straight game shooting 50 percent or better. The 'Cats outrebounded the Eagles 30-28 and Weber State had 10 steals and scored 32 fast break points,. 

McEwen led the way with 24 points. He was 4 of 7 from the field with two 3-pointers and was 14 of 16 fron the free throw line. He also had four rebounds and two steals. 

JJ Overton added 20 points on 8 of 11 shooting and Seikou Sisoho Jawara also had 20 points on 9 of 14 shooting. 

Dontay Bassett continued his strong play with 13 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Dillon Jones just missed a double-double as he finished with nine points and tied his career-high with 16 rebounds. He also had four assists and four steals.

Weber State continues its busy schedule with two more home games this week. The Wildcats host Montana Thursday at 7 p.m. and Montana State Saturday at 6 p.m.
