Weber State women's soccer sits at 2-4 (3-11 overall)

Pocatello, ID - Weber State women's soccer scored a trio of goals in the first 20 minutes to lead the Wildcats to a 4-2 win over ISU on Sunday afternoon at Davis Field.

Weber State got on the scoreboard in just the 10th minute as Shea Christiansen sent a cross in from the left side to Brynlee Meyerhoffer. Meyerhoffer then punched it into the back of the net to give the 'Cats an early 1-0 lead.

Just over a minute later, a ball mishandled by the opposing goalkeeper on a close-range shot by Morgan Furmaniak gave WSU a 2-0 advantage in the 11th minute.

Weber State extended its lead in the 17th minute when Olivia Tucker sent the ball to Morgan Furmaniak on the right side. Furmaniak then shot it past the ISU keeper and into the net to give WSU a 3-0 lead, ending the first half.

The Bengals came out in the second half fighting as they scored goals in the 79th and 88th minutes. However, just seconds after the Bengals' goal, the 'Cats won a free kick and Andelin Binford played the ball perfectly, finding the head of Furmaniak to put the game away for the 'Cats.

Furmaniak ended this afternoon's match with a hat trick and the first hat trick of the season in the Big Sky Conference. Weber State women's soccer hasn't seen a player score three goals in a match since 2006.

The Bengals out-shot the Wildcats 14-13 throughout the game, both having five shots on frame.

Hadley Whiting played 90 minutes in goal with two saves.

Up Next: Kickoff against Northern Colorado will be Friday, October 21 at 7:00 p.m. at the Wildcat Soccer Field.
