‘Cats Battle To Earn 1-0 Win Over Bears

Ogden, UT – Freshman Ali Swenson fired a shot into the back of the net in the 87th minute to break a 0-0 tie and give Weber State a 1-0 win over Northern Colorado this Friday evening at the Wildcat Soccer Field.
Weber State improves to 4-11 overall and 3-4 in Big Sky play.
The Wildcats and Bears battled back and forth early. Weber State earned multiple opportunities in the first half of the game but did not come away with points.
The 'Cats pressed early in the second half but found nothing until just under five minutes left in the match when a ball bounced to the top left side of the box and to the feet of Ali Swenson. She fired a shot right past the opposing keeper finding the bottom left of the net and earning the game-winning goal.
The 'Cats outshot the Bears 16-7 with a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal.
Morgan Furmaniak led Weber State with four shots and two on frame.
Mekell Moss faced seven shots and made four saves.
Up Next: Kickoff against Montana will be Sunday, October 23 at 1:00 p.m. at the Wildcat Soccer Field plus Senior Day for Mekell Moss and Rachel Twede.
