Wildcats head to Logan Monday night

Weber State takes on undefeated Utah State.

• Weber State faces the first of two in-state road games this week as the Wildcats head to Logan to take on Utah State Monday night. The Wildcats and Aggies will tipoff at 7 p.m. from the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum in Logan. The game will be streamed on the Mountain West Network with WSU radio coverage on 103.1 FM "The Wave". • Weber State is 4-7 on the year and has won back-to-back games, including a 74-45 win at Cal Poly on Friday. The Wildcats shot a season-best 53 percent from the field and knocked down 11 3-pointers. 

• Utah State is 9-0 and tied for the best start in program history. The Aggies are 9-0 to start a season for the first time since 1938-39. USU is one of five undefeated teams in the nation. The Aggies are first in the country in 3-point field goal percentage (.457) and second in 3-pointers per game (11.9). USU made a school-record 21 3-pointers in Thursday's 106-68 win over Westminster and shot 61 percent. 

  

• Weber State is now second in the nation in free throw shooting at 82.8 percent. The 'Cats have shot better than their opponent in every game this season and have shot 80 percent or better eight times. Individually, senior Zahir Porter is eighth in the country at 93.3 percent.  

• For the third time in the last four games, Weber State was led in scoring by Steven Verplancken in Friday's win. He finished with 15 points and made three 3-pointers. He had a career-high  21 points and made five 3-pointers in the previous win over Saint Martin's. Verplancken has scored in double figures eight times and is averaging 12.8 points per game and shooting 49 percent from 3-point range. He also scored his 1,000th career point in his career at Division II Glenville, Southern Illinois and Weber State.  

• Sophomore forward Dillon Jones had his sixth double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds in Friday's win. He is averaging 13.9 points and 9.3 rebounds per game He ranks second in the nation in defensive rebounds per game at 8.6 per game and is seventh in the country in double-doubles.

• This is the 73rd all-time meeting between the two schools with Utah State holding a 45-28 series lead. The Aggies beat the Wildcats 95-80 in Ogden last year. USU is 26-9 against Weber State in Logan and has won 11 of the last 12 games. WSU's only win since 1993 was in 2016. 

• Weber State closes out the non-conference season with another in-state road game Thursday night at BYU. The Big Sky season begins on Dec. 29 at home against Northern Colorado.
