Ogden, UT – The Weber State men's tennis team had their second conference match this Friday morning against the Eastern Washington Eagles. The 'Cats improved to 4-8 overall and 1-1 in the Big Sky Conference.
"This was a good conference win for us," said head coach Brad Ferreira.
"I am very happy with the play from Bo-Han Li and Matteo Savio. They have been working hard on a few things that came right today in their matches."
Tristan Sarap and Elyes Marouani earned the Wildcats their first point in doubles play when they defeated the Eagles Manuel Balce and Erik Sarlvik 6-1. Securing the doubles point for the 'Cats on court 2, Sebastian Buxman and Jordan Coutinho took the upper hand against Wout Doumen and Bruno Ortega 6-3.
Weber State headed into singles play with the 1-0 advantage. Keeping up the momentum, the 'Cats earned victories on 5 courts giving WSU the 6-1 win.
Finishing first in the No. 5 position, Matteo Savio defeated Drew Dillon 6-4, 6-0. Bo-Han Li won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. Sebastian Buxman beat Wout Doumen 6-4, 6-4 and Tristan Sarap earned a 5-7, 6-2, (10-3) victory.
Jordan Coutinho won against Bruno Ortega in three sets 3-6, 6-3, 6-1.
Up Next: Weber State is back on the courts Saturday, Feb 26 against Utah University at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center with the first serve set for 5 p.m.
