Wildcats Beat Anteaters, 5-2

Irvine, CA - The Weber State women's tennis team defeated UC Irvine 5-2, this Sunday afternoon at the Anteater Tennis Stadium. The 'Cats improved to 2-0 in the Big Sky Conference and 7-6 overall.
"We competed well and handled the change in altitude and outdoor play better than expected. We are progressing as a team and we have different players stepping up and putting us in winning situations," said head coach RuthAnn Allen.
To start the day, Megan Davies and Sicely Ferreira were defeated by Alyssia Fossorier and Jessica Tsukiji 6-1 in the No. 1 spot finishing first in doubles play. However, the Weber State duos on courts 2 and 3 secured victories and gave Weber the 1-0 advantage.
On court 3, Megan Lombardi and Yuuna Ukita earned the win 6-3 against Shreya Pavani and Jenna Schlatter. In the No. 2 spot, Pei-Hsuan Kuo and Ana Morett defeated Dasee Carter and Emily Fowler in a close match 7-5.
Keeping up their momentum, the 'Cats earned wins on four courts in singles play awarding WSU the 5-2 win.
Finishing first in the No. 4 position, Yuuna Ukita defeated Mia Totah 6-1, 6-1. Megan Lombardi won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 6 singles. Megan Davies beat Alyssia Fossorier 6-4, 6-1 and Ana Morett earned a 2-6, 7-6 (7-4), 1-0 (10-7) victory.
Up Next: Weber State is back on the courts Tuesday, Mar 8 against UC San Diego with the first serve set at noon.
