SPRING, Tex. – Hunter Howe shot a 4-under-par 68 in the final round of the Colin Montgomerie-HBU Husky Invitational on Tuesday to lead the Wildcats to a tie for fourth place in the team standings as the tournament wrapped up at Augusta Pines Golf Club.
Howe's final round 68 followed rounds of 74 and 73 from Monday as the junior finished in fourth place on the individual leaderboard with a 1-under-par total of 215 for the tournament. Howe carded nine birdies over the 54 holes, including four on Tuesday as he went bogey-free on the day.
Hayden Banz shot rounds of 77, 75 and 74 to finish in a tie for 23rd at 10-over-par 226, and carded six birdies and an eagle for the event. Reese Fisher joined Howe and Banz in the top-30, finishing in a tie for 27th with an 11-over-par total of 227. Fisher posted six birdies and rounds of 72, 77 and 78.
Brody Childs (79-76-80) shot a tournament total of 235 to finish in a tie for 56th, while Isaac Buerger (77-80-80) tied for 60th at 237.
As a team, the Wildcats posted rounds of 300, 301 and 300 for a tournament total of 901, matching Nicholls in the tie for fourth place.
Southeastern Louisiana cruised to the team championship, shooting rounds of 294, 291 and 283 for a 4-over-par total of 868 and a 13-shot margin over second-place Gonzaga (881). Incarnate Word finished third at 886.
Southeastern Louisiana was led by individual medalist Michael Landry, who shot three-straight rounds of 70 to finish with a 6-under-par total of 210. Gonzaga's Charlie Magruder finished three shots off the pace for second place.
The Wildcats will be off until March 21st when they tee it up at the UC San Diego Invitational in Carlsbad, Calif.
