Wildcats Bounce Back with 4-3 Win Over Azusa Pacific

Azusa, CA – Weber State men's tennis bounced back with a close 4-3 win over Azusa Pacific at the Munson & Bavougian Tennis Complex.
WSU duo Bo-Han Li and Chia-Chieh Lin earned the 'Cats their first doubles point at No. 3 when they defeated Sam Sippel and Ethan Smith, 6-4. Weber State battled hard but could not clinch the doubles point as the Cougars earned wins at Nos. 1 and 2.
Going into doubles play down 1-0, the Wildcats quickly tied the match 2-2. At No. 2, Tristan Sarap retired giving the Cougars their second point. However, the 'Cats Sebastian Buxman and Elyes Marouani earned victories at Nos. 1 and 3 to make it even.
Azusa Pacific took the lead again when Ivan Noel Hornung defeated Bo-Han Li, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 4.
However, the 'Cats did not lose their momentum, Matteo Savio and Jordan Coutinho finished strong for Weber defeating their opponents and taking the 4-3 win.
"We lost doubles early and were down 2-0 after Tristan retired but Sebastian and Elyes came back to make it even. Matteo won in two tiebreakers to make it 3-3 and Jordan had just split sets so it came down to the third set for the win which he took 6-2," said head coach Brad Ferreira.
