Weber Downs Idaho, 4-3

Ogden, UT - The Weber State men's tennis team continued its winning ways on Saturday afternoon at the Ogden Athletic Club. The 'Cats came away with a 4-3 victory over the Vandals.

The Wildcats took an early lead in doubles action on the day as Sebastian Buxman and Jordan Coutinho jumped out to a quick lead in No. 2 doubles, 6-3. Weber then needed to win one of the following two doubles matches to win the doubles point.

At doubles No. 1, Elyes Marouani and Tristan Sarap would claim the next and take the match, 6-4. The No. 3 doubles match would go unfinished, but the Weber Duo was leading, 5-3.

The Vandals collected the first two points of the day in singles action at Nos. 2 and 5.

Following the wins for the Vandals, Weber rallied off three wins in singles. Jordan Coutinho started the winning ways for the 'Cats in No. 6 singles. He won 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 tying the match 2-2. The Vandals earned the next point at No. 3 singles giving them the 1 point lead.

Sebastian Buxman battled in the No. 1 position winning in three sets, 7-5, 2-6, 6-1. Weber needed to win No. 3 singles to take the victory. Elyes Marouani matched up with Bruno Casino and took the first set 7-5. However, Casino battled back and took the second set, 3-6 forcing a third set. The third set belonged to Marouani as he won 6-2, clinching the point of the day for the Wildcats.

Up Next: The Wildcats hit the road as they head to Montana for a pair of matches on Saturday and Sunday. Weber will face Montana on Saturday before playing Montana State on Sunday.
