Perfect Conditions Bring Strong Performances for Wildcats in California

It was a big week for NCAA West Region Track and Field this week and the Wildcats were spread across three meets for high levels of competition with just under a month until the Big Sky Championships.

Mt. SAC Relays
Rylie Lusk and Maura Williams competed in the 10000 m Open. Lusk finished 13th with a time of 34:27.91 which currently ranks second in the Big Sky Conference. Williams finished 33rd with a time of 36:44.72.

Bryan Clay Invitational
The Bryan Clay Invitational was where most of the runners competed this week and there were several personal record performances. In the 800-meter run Cheyenne Leatham finished 36th with a time of 2:07.92 which currently ranks number three in the Big Sky this season. Cheyenne improved on her previous All-Time mark for Weber State with her time of 4:24.49 in the 1500-meters. Her time remains top-3 in the Big Sky this season.Â

Kami Withers also earned a PR in both the 800-meters at 2:16.28 which ranks seventeenth in the Big Sky and another PR in the 1500 in the Open heats with a time of 4:37.91.

In the 3000-meter steeplechase Bailey Winter ran a PR time of 10:26.80 to take seventh in the meet. Her time is currently second in the Big Sky Conference and number 22 in the NCAA West Division.

Abbey Lawrence finished seventeenth in the 5000-meter run with a time of 17:47.20.

In the 100-meter hurdles Cidnee Davies-Bohn finished eighteenth at 14.48. In the 400-meter hurdles Emily Barnes-Sterzer finished third with a time of 1:00.00 and she still holds the top spot in the Big Sky Conference.

In the Triple Jump Stefanie Aeschlimann finished with a mark of 37' 9.25", her furthest jump as a Wildcat so far. She finished 21st in the meet and is currently number 15 for the Big Sky. Davies-Bohn finished with a number six mark in the long jump at 18' 9.75" and a nineteenth-place finish for the meet.

Long Beach Invite
It was an all throwers meet at the Long Beach Invitational. Marissa Brunner-Schmidt threw 166' 3" in the hammer, and Lia Katoa threw 151' 9". Katoa also threw the Shot and finished with a mark of 41' 3".

In the Javelin, Lauren Olsen threw 130' 11". Kapua Pulotu threw both the discus and the Shot Put with marks of 144' 0", and 45' 7.75" respectively.Â

The Wildcats will be back in action next week down in Provo for the BYU Robison Invitational.
