Payton Jordan Invitational
Â
Coach Corbin Talley gave his thoughts on this meet, "We brought four guys out to Stanford for the Payton Jordan Invitational to go after some school records and Regional qualifying marks. It was a successful trip."
Â
Tracen Warnick ran a 3:43.43 which is just over a second off his season-best time, which ranks number seven in the Big Sky.
Â
Jamison Wilkes ran in the 3000-meter Steeple and finished with a time of 8:51.20. Coach Talley commented, "I'm really proud of the way that Jamison has battled this season, and his 8:51 in the steeplechase should be a lock to get him to the west regional." Wilkes' time has him number eight in the Big Sky and 35 in the NCAA West Region.
Â
A pair of runners competed in the 5000-meters and decided to cash in on the plan to go after some records. In Coach Talley's words, "It was awesome to watch Dallin run 13:49 for number three all time and then Christian ran 13:40 to get the school record. They had to be very focused and very tough." Christian's time has him number five in the Big Sky and 35 in the NCAA West Region, and Leatham's time has him at thirteenth for the Big Sky.
Â
The Wildcats will have some break in the coming week to give some time for extra preparation ahead of the Big Sky Championship meet. "We're excited to put in some final preparation and work over the next two weeks and go back up to finish strong at the conference championships", Talley said. The meet will be held starting Wednesday, May 11, and finishing on Saturday, May 14 at Idaho State University in Pocatello, ID.Â
