5/10/2022 7:17:00 PM | Men's Track & Field

The 2022 Big Sky Outdoor Track and Field Championships are scheduled to begin this week in Pocatello, Idaho. Idaho State University plays host for the meet that will be filled with Weber State Wildcat competitors.

The 3000-meter Steeplechasers have performed at a high-level all season and will look to score a lot of points for the men's team as 8 athletes currently rank in the top-25. Of the eight, there are four in the top-10. Tracen Warnick ranks highest amongst the Wildcats in third with a time of 8:41.04. He is followed by Bronson Winter in fifth at 8:46.58, Peter Visser in seventh at 8:49.77, and Jamison Wilkes in eighth with a time of 8:51.20.

Warnick also ranks seventh in the 1500-meter run and will be a strong competitor there.

Chrisitian Allen holds a strong positon in two events, ranking eighth in the 5000-meter run, where he now holds the school record at 13:40.88, and the 10000-meters where he ranks second for the conference at 28:26.35.

Dallin Leatham comes just behind Allen in the 10k at 28:47.43 in the fourth spot in the conference. Logan Anderson will also be a strong contender for the 10k with a sixth-best conference time of 29:37.80.

Both Cyrus Rindlisbacher and Caleb Whitney rank in the top-10 for both the 110-meter and 400-meter hurdles. Rindlisbacher ranks sixth in each event with a time of 14.35 in the 110-meter hurdles, and a 53.02 in the 400-meter hurdles. Whitney's time of 14.53 in the 100s ranks him ninth, and his time of 53.30 in the 400s has him seventh currently.

Caleb Whitney also holds a seventh-place mark in the Long Jump with a leap of 23' 4", as well as being highly competitive in the Decathlon where he was champion a season ago.

Jed Smith will also be competing in the Decathlon and will be a strong contender as well. He is also ranked highly in the Pole Vault at seventh with a mark of 15' 11".

Lachlan Burns ranks second in the Pole Vault at 17' 0" and the consistency that he has shown throughout the season will make him a tough to beat.

The Javelin has a pair of top-5 Wildcat throwers with Cody Canard third with a throw of 218' 5", and Josh Trafny fourth at 212' 2".

The Big Sky Conference Championships will be televised through ESPN+, and some events will be livestreamed on Instagram or Twitter periodically. Good luck to all the athletes competing this week
