8/12/2022 3:27:00 PM | Football
In our continuing series of previews of position groups for the 2022 season, we take a look at the Wildcat cornerbacks.Â
This talented group returns several players that have contributed to the Wildcat defense, led by preseason All-American Eddie Heckard. Heckard is a junior out of Las Vegas who has earned Big Sky All-Conference honors each of the last three seasons, including first-team honors the last two years.Â
Heckard was named to preseason All-America teams by Stats and Hero Sports. He has played in 35 games in his Wildcat career and enters 2022 with 23 pass breakups, the third-most in WSU history. He also ranks in a tie for sixth in career forced fumbles with six and has 140 career tackles.Â
Also returning is senior Marque Collins, who earned All-Big Sky honors last season. Collins has played in 40 games over the last four seasons and has five career interceptions. He also has 12 pass breakups and 87 tackles.Â
The cornerbacks also include juniors Kamden Garrett and Maxwell Anderson, and freshmen Jalon Rock, Toddrick Dixon and Noah Nahas. Â
Wildcat assistant coach and cornerbacks coach Andre Dyson takes a look at the group in this position preview.
