Weber State Falls In Home Season Opener To Kansas State

Ogden, UT – The Weber State women's soccer team fell 1-0 against the Kansas State Wildcats in their home season opener at the Wildcat Soccer Field this afternoon.

In a tough match between the two teams, Weber State held strong throughout the majority of the first half and was able to give themselves a few chances on KSU's side of the field. Weber State held Kansas State to a scoreless match until the 44th minute when KSU's Marisa Weichel knocked a shot into the back of the net past senior goalkeeper Mekell Moss.

WSU started to lose momentum in the second half however they stopped any advance that KSU made.

"I don't think that we played to our full potential but that's to be expected early in the season. We are still running a few different systems and plays. Our goal has always been to face the toughest of tests and put our players through tough situations so that when it comes time for conference we've done it and seen it, which will help us in the long run" said head coach Craig Sanders.
