Weber State Earns First Conference Win Against NAU

Ogden, UT – Weber State earned their first conference win of the season by playing an aggressive complete game against the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks. As has been the case in many of their games this year, Weber State came out on the front foot playing aggressively against the 'Jacks. What earned them the victory tonight was that they kept up their intensity throughout the entire game.

The Wildcats had multiple chances throughout the first half, capped off by a highlight-reel header by Grace Kirby off of a perfectly placed cross by Brynlee Meyerhoffer in the 29^th minute. The 'Cats had many good chances at goal throughout the game, hitting the crossbar twice in addition to the 'Jacks keeper making multiple fingertip saves.

Mekell Moss had an outstanding game, recording four saves and halting the Lumberjacks attack on multiple crosses, en route to earning her first shutout of the season.

"If you score early, it helps with momentum, especially if you've been losing. It helps with confidence. We all know we've been playing well. The team's spirits have been high, but we needed that goal to make a difference…. It's a tough game, you've got to be really good for 90 minutes, not just great for 85" said head coach Craig Sanders.

Going forward, coach Sanders said the team may have found their spark with their two goals over the past two games.

WSU outshot NAU 17-10 with each team recording four shots on goal.
There were four yellow cards handed out in the game, two for each squad.
