Top-5 Finish for Wildcats at Gans Creek Classic

9/30/2022 1:18:00 PM | Women's Cross Country

The women's cross country team raced this morning in the Gans Creek invitational hosted by the University of Missouri in Colombia. The race was full of stiff competition, and it was a good measurement of performance for the team as they prepare for the postseason.

The Wildcats finished fifth in the team competition with a score of 186, with the top point getters being Rylie Lusk and Bailey Winter, who finished just milliseconds apart at 20:56.2 for Lusk and 20:56.4 for Winter, earning 17th and 18th place for the field.

Laurie Murphy at 21:09.3, Jessica Hill at 21:45.0, and Danielle Brow at 22:04.5 earned the remaining points for the team.

Coach Paul Pilkington was very pleased with the performance, "we had a very good race, finishing fifth in a field of twenty-four teams is a great result. We closed the gap on our top four finishers who all did very well. We ran a lot better than we did two weeks ago and we will continue to get better moving forward."

The women will be close to home for their next race on October 7th as they travel to Logan for the Utah State Invitational for the last race before the postseason begins on October 15th.
