Wildcats Picked to Repeat as Big Sky Champions

FARMINGTON, Utah – After claiming the Big Sky title last season, the Weber State Wildcats have been selected to win back-to-back titles according to the 2022-23 Men's Golf Coaches' Poll.
The full results of the poll can be found below.
The Wildcats received five of the available first-place votes to end up the top dog as the league's men's golf campaign revs back up in the coming weeks.
"It's obviously nice to be thought of to having a good chance to repeat," said head coach Scott Erling. "But like I talked about with the guys, it doesn't mean anything if we don't put in the work and we don't play up to our potential. I really like this team and like how they compete and it's an honor to be thought of as one of the better teams in the conference."
WSU had a successful fall, highlighted by a pair of second-place finishes as a team and a victory in a match play event against Utah State.
Wildcat Isaac Buerger was named Men's Golfer of the Week twice during the opening months.
"This kind of puts a target on our backs," added Erling. "We already had a lot of expectations of ourselves, and now we've got some outside expectations and it will be interesting to see if we can meet those. I think we've got the guys that can do it, but only time will tell and we look forward to the challenge."
Idaho was selected second by the coaches, and Northern Colorado was selected third while receiving the other available first place vote.
Coaches were unable to vote for their own teams in the poll.
