Wildcats Go 1-1 On Day Two In Vegas

Las Vegas, NV – The Weber State men's tennis program sprang back into action this morning with a doubleheader against the University of California Riverside and the University of Hawaii. The squad defeated UCR 4-2 and fell 4-1 to Hawaii.
Match #1 – UCR
The day began with doubles play, where the 'Cats took the point early on. On court two, Jordan Coutinho and William Zulch defeated the Highlander duo of Ryan Huynh and Daniel Velek in a 7-5 match. Soon after, teammates Matteo Savio and Jack Lin took the upper hand on court three in a 7-6 match that awarded the squad the first match point. On court three the match went unfinished.
UCR's Justin Lamy earned the second point of the match and the first for the Highlanders on court five against Matteo Savio. The 'Cats second point came on court two as Tristan Sarap took the win 6-1, 7-5. The last two matches favored the Wildcats as Sebastian Buxman and Jordan Coutinho both found points on their courts and pulled through with the victory for a final score of 4-2.
Highlander Aarav Sane won by default against Jack Lin on court six and William Zulch went unfinished on court three.
Match #2 – Hawaii
Unable to secure the early advantage, the 'Cats moved to singles play where they faced some tough competition.
William Zulch was the sole player to earn the Wildcats a point when he defeated Vojtch Vlkovsky 6-0, 6-2. The remaining 'Cats put up an admirable fight on their courts but were unable to secure any other points on the day. Weber State fell 4-1 against UH.
"Hawaii is a very good team and we struggled," said head coach Brad Ferreira.
