Wildcats fall 67-57 to Idaho State

Weber State hits the road at Montana and Montana State this week.
OGDEN - Idaho State used a big second half to hand Weber State its first Big Sky loss as the Bengals knocked off the Wildcats 67-57 Saturday night at the Dee Events Center.
Weber State led 32-25 at halftime but Idaho State shot 52 percent from the field in the second half and held the Wildcats to just 31 percent in the half. The Wildcats were 1 of 7 from 3-point range in the half.
ISU had a 17-3 run early in the half and led by five at 42-37 with 12:22 to play.
Weber State came back and took a 43-42 with 10:40 to play before a 12-0 Idaho State run gave the Bengals a 54-43 lead with seven minutes to play.
The Wildcats were never closer than nine points the rest of the way and ISU led by as many as 13.
For the game, the Bengals shot 44 percent from the field, compared to 35 percent for Weber State. The Bengals outrebounded the Wildcats 35-27 and WSU was 3 of 19 from 3-point range.
Three Wildcats scored in double figures. Dillon Jones had 13 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for his eighth double-double of the season. He also had four steals and three assists. Junior Ballard also had 13 points off the bench for the Wildcats and had three steals, and Steven Verplancken added 12 points.
The loss dropped Weber State to 7-9 overall and 2-1 in Big Sky play and was the first loss to Idaho State in Ogden since 2017.
After three-straight home games to begin conference play, the Wildcats now hit the road for two games at Montana and Montana State next weekend.
