Weber State falls 31-23 at Eastern Washington

The Eagles scored on their opening drive, a 75-yard drive, and took a 7-0 lead less than four minutes into the game. Kyle Thompson made a 44-yard field goal late in the first quarter but the Eagles came back with a touchdown early in the second quarter to lead 14-3.
The Wildcats went on an 11-play, 74-yard drive, capped by a 1-yard touchdown by Kris Jackson to cut the lead to 14-10. Thompson made a 40-yard field goal at the end of the half to make it a 14-13 EWU lead at halftime.
The Eagles added a field goal in the this quarter before the Wildcats took their first lead with a 7-yard touchdown run by Richie Munoz at the start of the fourth quarter.
EWU came right back with a touchdown to take a 24-20 lead before another Thompson field goal cut the lead to 24-23 with 10:21 to play.
The Eagles went on an 18-play, 84-yard drive that took 8:40 off the clock that ended with a 3-yard touchdown run to take a 31-23 lead with 1:37 to play.
The Wildcats drove down to the field but couldn't convert in the final seconds.
Weber State totaled 369 yards of offense, the third-most of the season, but the Eagles totaled 420 yards of offense. WSU had 213 yards passing and ran for 156 yards.
EWU had the ball for 34:44 of the game and held the Wildcats to 6 of 13 on third down attempts.
In his second start, Munoz was 18 of 31 passing for 213 yards. Treyshun Hurry had seven receptions for a career-high 115 yards, the most receiving yards by a Wildcat player this season.
Adrian Cormier had 10 carries for a career-best 90 yards and Jackson added 37 yards and one touchdown.
Naseme Colvin had 11 tackles, while Jack Kelly had nine tackles, one sack and two tackles for loss.
The Wildcats have a bye next week and will return to action on November 4 at Idaho State before the final home game on November 11 against Idaho at Stewart Stadium.
