Wildcats Grab Fifth Place Finish at Red Rocks Invite

SEDONA, Ariz. – The Weber State women's golf team wrapped up the Red Rocks Invitational on Sunday at the Oakcreek Country Club, shooting a final round 293 to grab fifth place in the 20-team field.
The Wildcats opened on Saturday with back-to-back rounds of 297 and closed out the event with a three-round total of 23-over par 887. Navy won the tournament's team title, shooting 880 to finish four shots ahead of second place Grand Canyon. The Wildcats finished a single shot behind fourth place Gonzaga, and only two shots back of third place Cal State Fullerton.
Jessica Zelasko led Weber State with a tie for 8th place. Zelasko shot rounds of 72, 71 and 76 for a 3-over par total of 219. She carded 11 birdies over her three rounds, including five in her 1-under par 71 in the second round.
Emily Song used an even-par final round 72 to jump into the top-25 with a tie for 22nd place. Her closing 72 combined with rounds of 74 and 78 for an 8-over par 224.
Aerin Song bounced back from an opening 79 with rounds of 74 and 73 to finish in a tie for 32nd at 10-over 226. Sofia Fuenmayor matched Emily Song's final round 72 to jump into a tie for 49th at 229, while Isabel Gutierrez shot a total of 230 to tie for 52nd.
NAU's Ellena Slater earned individual medalist honors with rounds of 69, 73 and 70 for a 4-under par total of 212. Linley Ooi of Cal State Fullerton shot 214 to finish second.
The Wildcats will be back in action on April 3-4 as they compete in the Lamar Cardinal Challenge in Beaumont, Texas.
