Wildcats Finish Fourth at Cardinal Challenge

BEAUMONT, Tex. – The Weber State women's golf team finished off the Lamar Cardinal Challenge on Tuesday at Beaumont Country Club with a fourth place finish after shooting a three-round total of 929.
The Wildcats opened Monday's 36-hole day with rounds of 309 and 310, and closed the tournament with another 310 in Tuesday's final round.
Sofia Fuenmayor led the way for Weber State, shooting a 12-over par total of 228 to finish in seventh place overall. The freshman started the tournament with an opening-round 80 before closing with back-to-back rounds of 2-over par 74.
Emily Song and Isabel Gutierrez each shot 54-hole totals of 235 to finish in a tie for 16th. Song posted rounds of 79, 80 and 76, while Gutierrez carded scores of 78, 78 and 79.
Jessica Zelasko shot a total of 237 to finish in 19th place, while Aerin Song finished in 22nd place with a total of 241.
Tournament host Lamar won the team title, shooting rounds of 293, 297, and 306 for a total of 896. The Cardinals finished nine shots ahead of second place South Dakota State (905). Texas A&M-Corpus Christi finished third at 919.
Lamar was led by tournament individual medalist Alessia Trebbi-Tindall, who shot rounds of 72, 76 and 73 for a 5-over par total of 221. Piper Stubbs of South Dakota State and Linnea Jerlebo of Lamar tied for second place at 222.
