Wildcat softball falls to Texas A&M Commerce, 8-7

Diamond Sefe started the day off for the Lions with a RBI double that gave A&M-Commerce the 2-0 lead in the first inning.Â
Katelyn Whiting was the answer for the 'Cats in the top of the third inning with a two run homerun that brought Makayla Donahoo home, tying the score 2-2.Â
It looked to be all Wildcat softball for the remainder of the game with a 5-0 with runs from Mika Chong, Emily Ruhl and Whiting.Â
The Wildcats headed into the seventh inning with a 7-2 lead but the 'Cats weren't able to hold off the Lions who responded with six runs to cap off the game. Five of the six runs were scored in the bottom of the seventh inning. Â
Whiting led the squad with three hits and three RBI.Â
Amanda Johnson was in the circle for the Wildcats for a total of 6.2 innings pitched and two strikeouts.Â
The Wildcats sit at 5-14 on the season and are set to take on Boston University in Long Beach, California on March 9.
