Final Meet Ahead of Big Sky Championship

Pocatello, ID – The Weber State Wildcats were at Idaho State this weekend for the Bengal Invitational in the last meet before the Conference Championships on May 10 in Greeley, CO. In a weekend of celebration for graduating seniors, Wildcats added strong performances against a great field of competitors to tune up for Championship season.
 
In the 100m dash, Payge Walz finished fifth in her first time competing in the event as a Wildcat and ran 12.08 to finish fifth overall she ranks ninth in the Big Sky for the event. Payge also finished with a PR in the 200m dash with a time of 24.75. She performed well in the hurdles and finished with a PR of 13.73, which improves on her #4 WSU all-time ranking, and she finished second in the event.
 
Makayla Oliver finished with a PR in the 200m dash with a time of 24.67 and finished sixth overall, her time ranks thirteenth in the Big Sky this season.
 
Payge and Makayla were joined by Brittany Cardall, and Cidnee Davies-Bohn in the 4x100 relay team to finish third overall with a time of 46.92.
 
In the 400m Angelyca Chapman finished with a PR during preliminaries with her time of 56.28, and she finished sixth overall during the final heat with a time of 58.16, this time ranks number 11 in the Big Sky this season. Angelyca also earned a PR in the 200m at 25.06.
 
Two Wildcats competed in their first ever 1500 with Billie Hatch running 4:29.20 to finish second for the meet with a converted time of 4:24.20 she ranks seventh in the Big Sky this season. Jessica Hill ran 4:54.80 in her first 1500 as a Wildcat.
 
Bailey Wall finished first in the 3000 Steeplechase with a time of 10:43.72
 
Laurie Murphy finished first overall in the 5000 meters with a time of 18:04.96.
 
Cidnee Davies-Bohn finished seventh in the long jump with a mark of 18-00.5 in her first jump, and then electing to pass on her final attempts, including the final flights of the competition.
 
Throwers did well in the competition, with a big PR coming from Dawson Rothenbuhler who threw 45-11.25 in the shot put to finish second in the meet, her mark ranks fourth in the Big Sky this season. She followed up with a seventh-place finish in the discus with a throw of 132-10.00.
 
Megan Larkins earned new PRs in both the discus and hammer throws with a mark of 105-08.00 in the discus, and a new WSU #2 all-time throw of 187-02.00 in the hammer. Megan ranks third in the Big Sky this season.
 
The Wildcats will have two weeks to rest and prepare for the Conference Championships on May 10. Congratulations to all who have qualified to compete in the conference meet, and especially a huge congratulations to the 21 track and field and cross country athletes who graduated this weekend.
