Greeley, CO – The Big Sky Conference Championship completed on Saturday at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO. The athletes had to battle it out through stormy conditions during day two of the competition. The Wildcats fought hard and took home third place in the team competition.

Billie Hatch won the 5,000-meters with a time of 16:37.57 to earn some solid points for the team.

Another Big Sky Champion came from Alyssa Hansen in the Javelin who threw a massive season-best of 153-07.00 to earn the top spot.

Payge Walz earned all-conference honors as a freshman in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing third with a time of 13.58 to improve on her #4 WSU all-time ranking.

Megan Larkins finished second in the Hammer Throw with a throw of 184-07.00.

Dawson Rothenbuhler, another Freshman, earned all-conference in the Shot Put with a throw of 45-08.00.

Bailey Wall in the 3,000 Steeplechase, battling the elements to finish second with a time of 10:55.10.

The last all-conference performance came from Rylie Lusk in the 10,000-meters with a third-place finishing time of 37:36.46.

Other point-getters included Walz finishing fourth in the Heptathlon with a score of 4710, which improves on her PR and #8 WSU all-time mark that she set earlier this season. Walz finished first in the 100-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash with a PR of 24.46, and the long jump.

Walz finished sixth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.73 which also moves her to #4 on the WSU all-time list.

Angelyca Chapman finished eighth in the 400-meters with a time of 58.66.

Wall finished seventh in the 1500-meters with a time of 4:44.28.

In the 10,000-meters Billie Hatch finished just behind Lusk to finish fourth with a time of 37:39.88.

Despite an injury which she sustained competing in the Long Jump, Cidnee Davies-Bohn finished the 100-meter hurdle finals in eighth place to pick up a crucial point that made the difference between outright third place as a team and tying with Idaho State for third. Coach Paul Pilkington feels if Davies-Bohn hadn't hurt her hamstring in the long jump that she likely would have won the event, and would have finished at least top-4 in the hurdles.

Freshman, Eliza Smith finished seventh in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.46 improving on her rank in the preliminaries.

Brittany Cardall, Angelyca Chapman, Payge Walz, and Makayla Oliver competed in the 4x100 relay and finished fourth with a time of 46.27.

The long jump had Makayla Oliver finish fifth with a jump of 18-11.25 which is a PR for her as a Wildcat.

Lauren Olsen finished fourth in the Javelin to pick up some solid points for the team as well.

Overall, Coach Pilkington was very proud of the way the team battled back from adversity during the weekend. Many athletes competed through injuries and others stepped up in relays to replace athletes that couldn't go. Pilkington also felt the athletes came through in several ways to upset the field and to exceed expectations from the conference. "Throwers especially peaked at the right moment and Coach Josh Aydlette did a great job at getting them ready," said Pilkington.

This was the final meet for several athletes with some being qualified to compete at the NCAA West Regional Competition that will be held at Sacramento State University beginning May 24 in Sacramento, CA.
