Wildcats Take Game 1 Of Doubleheader In Vegas Thriller

Las Vegas, NV — The Weber State men's tennis team stayed hot winning their second game in a row taking down tournament host UNLV 4-3.
"Took the doubles point 12-10 in the tiebraker on court one. Jordan was 4 match points down to come back and tie it up. Then Tristan clinched with tie breaker win at 1." head coach Brad Ferreira said
The Wildcats were able to come back and earn three singles wins from the play of Jordan Coutinho, Tristan Sarap, and Elyes Marouani. Coutinho, who is now 4-0 in singles matches this year, took the victory in three sets by scores of 5-7, 7-6, 6-3. The matches from Sarap and Marouani also went the distance of three sets before the two were able to pull out victories for the 'Cats to clinch the win.
The Wildcats were able to win the doubles point with victories from the duos of Elyes Marouani/Tristan Sarap and Tuan (Ken) Minh/Matteo Savio. The combination of Marouani and Sarap won 7-6 (12-10) while Minh and Savio clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 victory.
The Wildcats now move to 2-2 on the year and will continue their weekend with a match against the New Mexico State Aggies on Saturday afternoon to complete the doubleheader.
