Peter Visser recorded a 126th place finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Madison, Wisconsin on November 23.Â
"I am extremely proud of Peter and his effort today as well as all season long," head coach Corbin Talley said. "He is a man of heart and character and determination. Every time he races, his passion is evident out on the course. He is as gritty and tough as they come. He wanted to cross the finish line in a higher position today, but being here and giving everything he could on the course is something he can hold his head high about."Â
The race was held at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course.Â
Visser ran the 10K course with a time of 30:03.8. This is a back-to-back appearance for Visser and he is only the fourth Wildcat in program history to make it to two NCAA Championships.Â
"The NCAA cross country meet is incredibly challenging wih so many talented runner. And the fact that he is here and racing among that field is phenomenal," Talley said. "It's even more challenging when you're here as an individual, but I thought he represented his teammates and Weber State in an exceptional way."Â
Visser previously finished 150th with a time of 31:03.9 in the 2023 championship.Â
"I can't express enough how great of a young man he is. A 4.0 student, a great leader for our team, and one of the best runners Weber State has ever seen," Talley said. "One thing I know for certain, Peter will take what he learned today, and it will make him better down the road. He will come back with even more fire and determination to be as good as he can."Â
This concludes the 2024 cross country season.Â
