Ogden, UT — The Weber State men's tennis team was defeated at home Thursday afternoon at the hands of the BYU Cougars by a score of 5-2.
Head coach Brad Ferreira said about the match, "BYU is a very strong team. We played excellent doubles today and I am very impressed with Ken. He continues to play well and work hard."
The Wildcats were able to sweep the doubles matches today with the combinations of Elyes Marouani/Tristan Sarap winning 6-1, Matteo Savio/Tuan (Ken) Minh taking it 6-3, and Connor Kruger/Jordan Coutinho clinching the point with a score of 5-3.
In singles play, Tuan Minh was the only athlete who was able to break through and clinch a singles point for the team. He did so in three sets taking it 4-6, 6-1, 7-5.
This was the first match back for the 'Cats in almost three weeks with their last match taking place on February 3rd against the Air Force Academy. Next up for the team is a road trip to the west coast as they will begin a California road trip with a match against Jessup on March 2nd.
