'Cats kickoff season with a 5-1 win over SLCC

Wildcat soccer recorded a 5-1 victory over Salt Lake Community College on August 9th.

Following a 45 minute rain delay, the 'Cats were quick to get on the board with a goal from Brynlee Meyerhoffer at 5:46. Josie DeLine recorded the assist.

Samantha Kearns built on to the lead two minutes later with an unassisted goal and before the half was Ali Swensen also recorded an unassisted goal

The Bears found the back of the net in the 40th minute to head into the half trailing 3-1.

Sammie Sofonia kicked off the second half with the 'Cats fourth goal at 60:35 off of an assist from Ella Sanders and Grace Kirby-Hortin capped off the night with a goal in the 81st minute.

The 'Cats allowed two shots in ninety minutes and attempted 18 shots. Hadley Harris recorded one save and allowed one goal.

Kirby-Hortin and Swensen led the squad with four shot attempts each.

"We were working hard at it all week," head coach Craig Sanders said. "We played everybody, the young players played well. It was a great start for us."

The 'Cats will officially kick off the season at home against Utah Tech on August 15th at 7 PM.
