Wildcats fall 35-3 at Washington in season opener

Damon Bankson had 108 rushing yards to lead the Wildcats. WSU hosts Portland State in home and Big Sky opener Saturday.
SEATTLE - Weber State dropped its season opener 35-3 at Washington late Saturday night at Husky Stadium.Â
The Huskies totaled 482 yards of total offense, compared to 253 yards for Weber State. The Wildcats had 155 rushing but were held to 98 yards passing.Â
The game was scoreless after the first quarter before Washington scored twice in the second quarter to lead 14-0 at halftime.Â
The Huskies scored twice in the third quarter and jumped out to a 28-0 lead. Kyle Thompson connected on a 28-yard field goal late in the third quarter for WSU's only score.Â
Washington added another score early in the fourth quarter to take the 35-3 lead.Â
Damon Bankston led the 'Cats with 16 carries for 108 rushing yards, in his first game since late September of last season. Adrian Cormier added 24 rushing yards.Â
Richie Muñoz was 11 of 32 passing for 98 yards. Jaden Thrower had three catches for 25 yards.Â
Defensively, the 'Cats had five tackles for loss and two sacks. Kemari Munier-Bailey and Angel King each recorded a sack. Garrett Beck and Ishaan Daniels each had five tackles. Â
The game was played in front of a reported crowd of 66,984, the largest crowd ever for a game involving Weber State.Â
