Wildcats roll to a 39-0 shutout win over the Demons

Weber State had 433 yards of total offense in the shutout win.

NATCHITOCHES, La. - Weber State returned the south and left with a dominating victory. The Wildcats rolled to a 39-0 win over Northwestern State Saturday night at Turpin Stadium to improve to 2-2 on the season. 

Weber State had 433 yards of offense and held the Demons to 157 yards as the 'Cats picked up their first shutout win since beating Southern Utah 62-0 in 2021. 

Weber State thew for 327 yards and rushed for 106, while holding Northwestern State to 84 yards rushing and 73 yards passing. 

Wildcat sophomore quarterback Richie Munoz threw for 327 yards and three touchdowns in the win. He was 19 of 31 passing on the night. 

Jacob Sharp led the receivers with eight catches for 119 yards and a touchdown and Noah Kjar had three catches for 71 yards. 

Bankston had 10 carries for 56 yards and Davion Godley had a career-high 47 yards rushing. 

Defensively, Weber State had four sacks, forced a fumble, and had 17 tackles for loss.  

Senior Kemari Munier-Bailey finished with three sacks and led the 'Cats with eight total tackles and six tackles for loss. Brayden Wilson also had a sack and Bronson Childs had three tackles for loss. 

The Wildcats scored 27 points in the first half as Munoz had two first half touchdowns, connecting with Jacob Sharp for a 35-yard score and Jaden Thrower for a 17-yard score. Damon Bankston also had a 7-yard touchdown run and Kyle Thompson and Sloan Calder each had field goals. 

The 'Cats started the second half with another touchdown as Munoz found Jayleen Record for a 33-yard score to make it 34-0. The defense forced a safety and WSU led 36-0 after three quarters. Weber State held the Demons to just 13 yards of total offense in the third quarter. Another Sloan Calder field goal made it 39-0. 

After playing three of the first four games on the road, Weber State returns to Stewart Stadium and will host McNeese next Saturday at 6 p.m.
