Peter Visser Awarded All-Region Honors

The Weber State men's cross country team placed 7th at the NCAA Mountain Region Championships. The Wildcats recorded 215 team points in the 10k race.

"I was really proud of the guys today. They fought hard, and I feel we had our best race of the season," Head Coach Corbin Talley said. "Although we're going to be just shy of qualifying for the NCAA Championships, a top seven finish in the competitive Mountain Region is something to be proud of."

Peter Visser led the Wildcats, placing 8th with a time of 30:13.1. He received All-Region Honors for placing in the top 25 finishers.

"We're all very stoked about Peter's top 10 finish and his individual qualification for the NCAA Finals. He ran extremely patient, calm, and strong. He did a great job covering every move and securing his ticket to Missouri," Talley said.

Following Visser's performance, he qualified for the NCAA Championship for the third year in a row. He is the first Wildcat in team history to qualify for the NCAA Championships three times. Visser will compete in Columbia, Missouri on November 22.

Jacob Peterson finished next for the Wildcats in 44th place at 31:29.0. Followed by Owen Rogers in 49th with a time of 31:36.4. Wesley Kallgren finished in 53rd at 31:54.8. Tyler Spencer wrapped up the scoring in 61st place at 32:17.4.

Ty Davis finished in 64th with a time of 32:21.9. Taylor Knight wrapped up the Wildcat runners in 70th place at 32:40.0.

"I was impressed with our young guys in the race. Jake, Owen, and Tyler all ran well and will be back and even better next year. And I am going to miss this group of seniors tremendously. They have all been amazing throughout their Weber State cross country careers," Talley said.

The Wildcats placed in the top-5 five times throughout the season, highlighted by a second place finish at the Big Sky Championships on November 1. Which was the highest team finish since 2019.
