Men's Track kicked off indoor season at Boston University

Peter Visser breaks indoor 5,000 meter record
The Weber State men's track and field team competed at the Sharon Danville-Colyear Opener at Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts to start off the indoor season.Â
"I knew it would be a special night for both guys. Peter had a great shot to get the school record, and Jake had a great chance at going sub 14:00 for the first time," Head Coach Corbin Talley said.Â
Peter Visser finished at 13:34.4 for a PR and the fastest 5,000 meter race in Weber State. This is Visser's third school record, adding to the indoor 3,000 meter and the outdoor 5,000 meter. He finished 11th overall, across the nine 5k heats.Â
"He was a bit tired coming off of the NCAA Cross Country 10k, but he managed the race extremely well to get that record," Talley said.Â
Jake Peterson recorded a time of 13:59.46 for a PR as well. Peterson ranked 80th across the nine heats. He is just the fourth Wildcat in indoor history to run a sub-14 minute 5k, and has the fourth fastest indoor 5k time.Â
"Both of them ran very gutsy and made moves when needed. I'm proud of their efforts and the way they represented Weber State, and I'm really excited to get things going this indoor season," Talley said.
The Wildcats will now compete at the BYU Invitational on December 10-11.Â
